USCG Auxiliary, Flotilla 113-01-02

MISSION STATEMENT - 2008

The vision of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to rise to meet America’s changing maritime safety and security challenges while concurrently bringing to the American public an array of homeland security, recreational boating and maritime safety programs. Our flotilla, through its supporting role to the U.S. Coast Guard, and through its focus on saving lives, serves the boating public in Marin County and on San Francisco Bay and its members.

The flotilla serves the boating public through recreational boating programs by providing:

 ·         Competent and effective public education programs in boating safety;

·         Competent and informative Courtesy Marine Examinations and Marine Program Visitations; and,

·         By promoting the USCG Boat Smart Programs.

 The flotilla supports local US Coast Guard units by providing:

 ·         Operational support for safety, regatta and PATON patrols;

·         Members who are qualified to stand COMMS watches and serve in other staff augmentation roles;

·         Assistance in times of emergency; and,

·         Promoting the USCG Waterways Watch Program.

 In doing so, the flotilla provides its membership with:

 ·         Opportunities for maritime and nautical training;

·         Hands-on experience in boating safety and related matters; and,

·         Fellowship, camaraderie and the occasion to learn from mutual experiences with a membership of varied backgrounds and professions.

We believe that a trained, capable and willing flotilla can be an asset to the U.S. Coast Guard, thus fulfilling the vision of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
